AWS and WAX have teamed up on Web3 gaming tools.

Amazon Web Services Partners with WAX Blockchain for Web3 Development

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has teamed up with the WAX blockchain to simplify the integration of Web3 functionalities for developers. This partnership will see the Amazon Managed Blockchain (AMB) service incorporating WAX’s comprehensive suite of Web3 tools, enhancing the development experience for users. The WAX platform, known as the Worldwide Asset Exchange, serves as an ecosystem primarily focused on gaming and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).

Streamlined Access to Decentralized Applications

The Amazon Managed Blockchain allows developers to create decentralized applications (dApps) efficiently, without the burden of managing specialized infrastructure. Previously, developers faced the daunting task of either setting up their own nodes—a process often fraught with complexities—or relying on existing node providers, which limited their control over infrastructure. With this new integration, WAX enables developers to deploy nodes quickly and easily through the AWS console, thereby streamlining the entire process.

Enhanced Development Tools and Solutions

Once developers have deployed their WAX nodes, they can engage with both the mainnet and testnets, facilitating experimentation and development without unnecessary obstacles. To further support developers, WAX provides an array of tools designed to enhance the Web3 development experience. These include offerings such as the Cloud Wallet, single-sign-on (SSO), OAUTH, a native random number generation service, a dedicated developer portal, a cross-chain bridge, and a blockchain explorer.

WAX’s Commitment to Mass Adoption of Web3

Lukas Sliwka, the CTO of WAX, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting its potential to promote widespread Web3 adoption. He noted that the collaboration offers both blockchain-native and traditional Web2 developers an effortless way to either build new applications on the WAX blockchain or integrate decentralized features into their existing projects. The provision of an extensive suite of tools and documentation aims to make the onboarding process as seamless as possible.

Supporting Developers with Comprehensive Resources

As an official Amazon Solutions Provider, WAX is equipped to offer developers essential resources, including guidebooks that help navigate the complexities of Web3 development. This integration not only supports those native to blockchain but also enables traditional Web2 developers to incorporate decentralized elements into various projects, such as Web3 games, digital asset marketplaces, and both fungible and non-fungible tokens.

Bridging Web2 and Web3 for Future Growth

Dimitri Nikolaros of BountyBlok, a prominent block producer on WAX, emphasized the importance of blending blockchain technology with conventional Web2 frameworks. He noted that this partnership leverages AWS’s powerful cloud computing capabilities to accelerate the development of next-generation applications, marking a significant step forward in the evolution of the digital landscape.

WAX Blockchain’s Growing Ecosystem

The WAX blockchain has established custom tools and incentive mechanisms that enhance user experience in sectors like gaming, e-commerce, and the trading of digital collectibles. Currently, over 140 Web3 games have chosen WAX as their foundational platform, contributing to a robust ecosystem that boasts more than two million Unique Active Wallets and has processed over 300 million transactions in the past month.

Expanding Collaboration with Amazon

The recent partnership with AWS builds upon WAX’s existing relationship with Amazon. Notably, the WAX-based trading card game, Brawlers—created by Richard Garfield, the legendary designer of Magic: The Gathering—has been included in the Amazon Prime Gaming service. This integration allows subscribers to access complimentary WAX accounts and offers monthly chances to receive exclusive in-game items, including special sets themed around holidays like Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s.
